Junior Product Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for Engineering the Product in a timely and cost effective manner, while meeting all specifications required.

RESPONSIBILITIES ASSOCIATED WITH PERFORMING THE JOB

  • Responsible for evaluating customer requirements and the generation of manufacturing/process and tooling travellers.
  • Perform design for manufacturing review (DFM) of design data and determine raw material requirements, methods and process capabilities.
  • Perform impedance modeling and stack-up calculations.
  • Determine and foresee any manufacturing limitations that may exist with respect to customer requirements.
  • Work closely with CAM department to ensure tooling is implemented effectively.
  • Provide engineering support to quotations, manufacturing, quality control, and customer service/sales.
  • Responsible for customer and supplier contact regarding technical issues.
  • Meets with production/quality personnel to help solve manufacturing problems as required.
  • Maintains confidentiality particularly in the case of customer data, product costs, and manufacturing processes.
  • Regularly makes decisions and advises superior of action taken……problems faced on the job are most often non-routine, frequently requiring a decision, in a situation not encountered previously.
  • Responsible to keep abreast of all new technology and processes in the industry.
  • Responsible for following all company and legislative rulings.

SKILL/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PEFORM THE JOB

  • As a minimum, requires a community college diploma or a technical field with   1-5 years of relevant practical manufacturing experience in PCB manufacturing.
  • Self-motivated and ability to manage own activities.
  • Good organizational and communication skills are required to plan and coordinate each day’s activities and ensure that work is completed accurately and on time.
  • Must be able to use computer and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to read “blueprints”.
  • Good reading, writing, computational, diagnostic and problem solving abilities are required.

 PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE JOB

 Duties can vary throughout each day as can the physical and mental efforts required to accomplish the tasks; they can range from sitting at a computer terminal for extended periods of time, talking on the telephone to light physical activities involving walking and standing.

  • Constant attention to detail often with numerous interruptions and varying demands.
  • Subject to meeting deadlines, both predictable and sporadic. Must be able to respond quickly to resolve problems and to competing and often conflicting deadlines.
  • Creative abilities are required in customer communications and problem solving.

WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB 

  • Works in a shared office area when not on shop floor.
  • Requires sitting in one spot for extended periods of time.
  • Subject to many interruptions, deadlines and varying work schedule.
  • Requires high degree of visual attention involving constant attention to detail.
  • Occasionally required to work overtime.
