Multilayer Technician

 The primary function of the job is to set up, construct and laminate multilayer circuit boards from copper layers and fiberglass, to construct and laminate circuit boards and laminate heat sinks in accordance with established manufacturing procedures/processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES ASSOCIATED WITH PERFORMING THE JOB

  • Kit layers
  • Prepares pre-preg based on the job card traveler.
  • Performs actual lay- up based on the job card traveler and either laminates on the hydraulic press or vacuum press.
  • Constructs multilayer circuit boards from copper layers and fiberglass; laminates the boards in hydraulic press or vacuum press; takes boards apart
  • Occasionally responsible for minor equipment repairs
  • Responsible for cleaning and maintaining work area, tools, and equipment in a safe and orderly manner and ensuring that proper health and safety standards and procedures are followed.
  • Occasionally provides training or instructions to co-workers
  • Responsible for the consequences of errors such as machine breakdown, loss of concentration during lay-up or failure to follow exact instructions on job card.
  • Problems faced on the job tend to be somewhat routine and infrequent unusual situations.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

SKILL/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE JOB

  • As a minimum, 10-12 years of general education is required and 1 year on-the-job training under supervision of an experienced worker is necessary to become proficient.
  • A mechanical aptitude is essential
  • Good reading, writing, and arithmetic abilities are required in reading drawings and job cards, set-up machines, calculating pressure, maintaining production records, diagnosing and solving problems; assembling circuit boards
  • Manual dexterity, speed, accuracy and hand-eye coordination is essential to maximize production and minimize waste materials and spoiled units of production.
